i've been too lazy to update the colors
of my text on this thing. any suggestions? and i hope too soon put my
music back on. :) i think i like playing with the actual layout of my
blog more than posting. :) maybe i'm a computer geek undercover.
hahaha

ever since 3dot mentioned this,
i can't help but think how eerie it is...that the blogger ads just know
what i'm writing about...spooky.

i finished lost names over
the weekend. and i recently saw grave of the
fireflies. this may be the reason for my bizaar dream last night,
which consisted of running from evil soldiers, hiding in a closet,
fearing for our lives. yikes!!! it was the first "nightmare" i've had in
ages!! it's funny, i used to have nightmares a lot as a kid, and now, i
swear this is the first one i can remember having in a LONG time. weird.
i'm surprised i haven't dreamed about vampires and warewolves. how the
heck do you spell warewolves. werewolves? hrm...

this weekend we made a last-minute trip
down to san diego (technically, we were in oceanside and la
jolla...close enough). saw his family and some friends, and got to spend
quality time with the nsx. it only took us 6.5 hours to drive down
friday late night, and about 9.5 hours on the way back, thanks to
congestion caused by a little fire on the grapevine. also saw underworld
which was way better than i had ever expected. and ate nachos. and a
milkshake. yum...
i hate this heat...

i LOVE my nalgene!! haha, i know it's
just a water bottle, but it's so convenient and the water doesn't taste
plastic-y, and it's easy to wash, and it's bright orange! two
bottle-fuls at work and i'm on track for my 10 cups of water a day. :)
*happy*
i'm going thru another one of my korean music kicks,
where i buy korean CDs like crazy and listen to them over and over and
over and over...

it's hard to believe it's been 2 years
already. i remember it was a weird morning to begin with. w's mom was
visiting, so w was staying with her in SF. i woke up a little early,
just about 6:15, and turned on the tv to pass the time before i hopped
in the shower. channel 2 was on, but the picture i saw was at first
glance confusing. what was going on? i think that's the world trade
center, but is this a movie? then i listened to what they were saying,
the world trade center had been hit by a plane. how in the world did
that happen?! i watched the news for 10 minutes or so, and still unable
to understand the severity of this, i hopped in the shower and got ready
for work. i just assumed it was an accident and the sprinklers in the
building would put out the fire, and everyone would be just fine. when i
got to the bart station, more people were trying to leave the city than
enter. when i arrived at embarcadero center, it was pure mayhem on the
streets. people just going every direction. i was so used to always
walking briskly with the crowd, toward the big buildings of the
financial district. but today was pure chaos. i got to work and saw a
couple others there. then one of my coworkers says, "they've collapsed,
the world trade center has collapsed." then it hit me. then i realized
just how "serious" this was. i will never forget that feeling in the
bottom of my stomach. by the time i got to w and his mom in union
square, the tv was showing the footage of the collapse over and over and
over. i just couldn't watch it anymore. it was so surreal... this
morning while i was at the gym, one of the stations on the tv's was
showing a recap of the events of that day, and i just couldn't watch it.
it's not that i wanted to forget or push it aside or not think about it.
i just don't need to see the pictures over and over again to remember
what i felt that day. i remember my cubemate went out and got me the new
york times the next day. i have it still, tucked away in a box under my
bed. i've kept several pictorials from time and newsweek and so on. just
in case i do forget...but i have a feeling i never will.

i've shifted my fitness goals a bit.
we'll see how it goes. it's very intimidating being surrounded by huge
men with big muscles, and here's little me with my 10 lbs weights. hrm.
i try not to think about that, but it's hard when you're completely
surrounded. but going to the gym before work is definitely the way to
go. so, i have to wake up at 5am, but it's so worth it to have the rest
of my day to just do stuff. is that crazy?

had a fabulous and exhausting weekend.
saturday was filled with a lot of driving and moving around heavy
boxes/engine hoist/weight bench. but the day ended with a great bbq at
w's dad's house in salinas. sunday woke up bright and early to head out
to laguna seca to watch the american le mans series. we entered the nsx
in a car show, basically to get cheap tix to the race ($20 versus $45)
and also primo parking. we weren't trying to win, especially since our
car is pretty much completely stock except for the height and the
wheels. the best part of the day? definitely the parade lap on the
track. i went on it a few years ago on the back of w's bike, during the
world superbike races, and that was a blast. but being in our nsx was a
totally different experience. although we were only able to really drive
the first half (due to the back up of cars getting off the track), it
had the best part...the corkscrew! i wish someone could take pics of us,
but it's not like a roller coaster ride where they have those cameras
taking pics of the riders. we took a million pics, and actually had our
camera battery die before the 2nd race! hahaha, oh well, it was still a
fun day at the race track. hopefully i'll have time tomorrow to look
thru and post the pics...

so who all's voting in this recall
election? is california a total mockery or what?! i'm sure all the other
49 states are just shaking their heads, tsking at us. "those dumb
californians." whatever, i'm so not into all this political bs. i know i
should care about who is running the state i live in, but i don't. when
i turned 18, i did my duty as an american citizen and registered to
vote. well, then i moved away for college, and kept forgetting to get an
absentee ballot sent to me, thus never voted in my life (and i didn't
care enough about the city i was living in to change my district). then
i received a letter in the mail saying that i've been "unregistered" due
to my lack of participation in the last however-many elections. whoops.
i tried. now i have no desire to re-register. i'm just that lazy.
:P
okay, last night there was a TINY earthquake, like 3.9 or
something, and the news people can't stop talking about it!! what's the
big freakin' deal. call me when it's a BIG one, 6.0 at least. scary
thing, i live right over the san andreas. and my parents live along the
hayward fault. i think the hayward fault is WAAAAY overdue for a large
quake. yipes. let's hope these little ones keep happening to lessen the
blow of the BIG one. ugh...*flashbacks of loma prieda*

5 weddings down, 0 to go!! woohoo!! well,
at least for 2003. 2004 is a whole 'nother story. the wedding we went to
this weekend was really nice. the ceremony was at the crystal cathedral in orange
county. the church itself is amazing! i tried to get some cool pics of
it, but that was kinda hard with the ceremony going on. it was weird to
think we were at the church where they film "the hour of power." i
totally remember seeing that on tv when i was a kid. there was a huge
jumbo-tron screen at the entrance of the church, flashing religious
messages. and the parking lot had a section of "in-car worship," a sort
of drive-in church service. overall, a nice, but weird
experience.
