.:: y'om say'n? word. ::.

a friend and former coworker wore this t-shirt on one casual friday, i recall it was orange, and the back of the shirt had the phrase "y'om say'n?" on it. i asked him, "what's that?" his response: "y'om say'n?" and from that day on, everytime he wore that shirt, he'd see me and say "y'om say'n?" and i'd respond with "word."

went on a hike today. it's been a while so it was nice to be out and about. i was hoping for better weather, as the weatherman said it was supposed to be warmer than yesterday. we went to mori park in pacifica. the trail was right along the cliffs! the ocean on one side...it was veeeerrrry niiiiiicce. that's what i'm gonna miss most when we leave this side of the bay...the ocean! there's something about the ocean that is so mesmerizing. *sigh* all we can do now is take advantage of it while we're here.

whenever we rent DVDs, we just watch the movie and that's pretty much it. we rarely ever go thru the "special features" or director commentary, etc. i rented love actually and LOVED it. it was just the sweetest movie, and i'm not one to reach for the romantic comedies at the video store. the different aspects of love, in all its stages. i actually started watching the deleted scenes. they were just as great as the rest of the movie. i wish they had the original version of the movie on the DVD. i would definitely have watched it, even in its 3.5 hour entirety!

w and i actually had today off! woohoo!! so we watched super size me. it was interesting, kinda grossed me out. i mean, we all know that eating fast food as your main staple isn't the healthiest, but this movie really showed just how detrimental it is to your body! ugh. makes me ill just thinking about it. i thought the funniest line was when morgan spurlock says that when he has kids, everytime they drive by a fast food joint he's gonna punch his kid, basically to condition him/her to dislike fast food! hahaha, genious. a lot of the topics i knew from reading fast food nation (which is a must read for everyone, imo).

it's so gross for me to see little kids drinking sodas (big gulps at 8am??) and eating mc d's for breakfast. when i was growing up, i NEVER ate that stuff. i never drank sodas, i hardly ever had junk food. i can totally remember in the 4th grade, my mom would pack me a sandwich and minute maid fruit punch for lunch, and would add a bag of skittles! funny thing, i used to give it away, or trade it for my friend's beef jerky. hahahaha... i can't even imagine not having a home cooked meal every day, made with fresh vegetables and meats (NEVER frozen). i never really ate fast food til i got to high school, and even then, it wasn't like something i wanted to eat all the time. my friend introduced me to frozen tator tots sophomore year in high school, and my mom was appalled that i would eat that "junk." and in college, i hardly ever ate fast food. we had tons of tacquerias, bbq joints and GOOD places to eat! altho not the best for you food, it still beats super-sized fries.

i have a really smart rice cooker! my parents bought me a REALLY fancy rice cooker during my senior year of college (all i asked for was a rice cooker with a "warm" feature). i recently switched to brown rice, and i've never cooked brown rice before and had no idea that it was THAT different than white. well, my rice cooker sure knew! it usually takes 35 minutes for my cooker to cook white rice (the short-grain sticky variety) but 50 minutes later, my brown rice was still steamin' away! of course it was dried out cuz i didn't put enough water, but how did my rice cooker know?! i did nothing different...that's so weird! WEIRD!!

jebus, as if jack-hammering all day wasn't enough, they shut off our water, without telling us in advance, and then the power went out!!! and my dsl was down for most of the day. but that's okay, it gave me no excuses to CLEAN!

how annoying!! to have jack-hammering right outside my house, and then at 11am, the garbage man is here? he's very late today. AHHHH...this noise is driving me crazy! i can't wait to move out of this sh*t-hole. but the thought of buying a house is kinda scary... cuz now it means we're really "settling down" and "staying put." no more talks of moving away, outta cali. we're here forever! okay, not forever, but for a good amount of time. kind of a weird feeling...so "adult."

it is physically very difficult for me to do anything sllooooowwwwly. (except maybe sleep, hahaha).

i eat (and drink) very fast, except during the year i had my tongue pierced. i try to eat slower, but when there is food in front of me, i have to eat it!

i talk fast. well, i used to. i mean really fast. my nickname in jr. high school was "speedy" as in speedy gonzales. my dad used to get frustrated cuz he couldn't understand what i was saying, and would yell at me to speak slower. so i did. okay, that's one thing i don't do fast...anymore. :)

i walk fast. very fast. i try to walk slow, when i'm at work and i'm escorting guests to where they want to go, and man, i feel like my legs are just going to buckle and i'm going to fall!

and last night, i realized that i have a hard to driving slow. with this whole CHP crackdown on speeders, i've forced myself to drive no faster than 70, which may not be that big a deal for most ppl, but i just feel like i'm driving sooooo sllllooooowwww. but i know i'll kick myself the day i go 71 and i get pulled over. so i'm teaching myself to drive slow. *sigh*

you know that feeling when you have so much on your mind that you don't know what you're thinking anymore and everything kinda starts to shut down? well, that's what i'm feeling. i have brain overload. heh.

i've seen ted coppel around the hotel two times already. he's short. everyone on TV is much shorter in person. that's what i've discovered.

last night, with nothing on TV, we landed on "WB's Superstar." it was horrible. those ppl are going to hell. if you don't know what it is, it's a spoof on "American Idol" except instead of finding GOOD singers, they're picking all the BAD singers, and as a giant hoax, sending them to hollywood to perform in front of an audience and basically get laughed at (cuz they REALLY can't sing). it's AWFUL!! i can't believe someone thought this was a good idea. people...i swear...

today is day 7 without a day off. i realized what happens to me when i'm overworked...i become a grouchy b*tch and pick fights with everyone. *evil cackling laughter*

woa, they really changed blogger...i'm not sure i like this! everything's so big. do they think we can't see the screen?

my new favorite food right now is hummus. i can't stop eating trader joe's spicy hummus. yummm...

my new favorite drink right now is french lemonade. it's really just carbonated lemonade, but it's so delicious! also found at trader joes. yummm...

my new favorite tv commercial right now is the citibank identity theft commercials. they're so clever and funny. i like the one with the black lady at the salon...ahahahahaaaaa...

and my new favorite show on FoodTV is Paula's Home Cooking. she's this total down-home country lady that makes the fattiest, greasiest, completely-bad-for-you-in-every-way foods, but she's so cute with her southern drawl, i can't stop watching. makes me want to move to texas. okay, maybe not.

i know it's sad, but i admit i'm bummed that "friends" is gone. well, except in syndication. but still...what am i going to watch on thursdays now?? :P i was happy with the ending tho, i knew it was gonna happen, but i liked the way they did it. i think my all time fave series finale was the "seinfeld" finale. what a way to end the show! i need to find a new sitcom to watch. there aren't any that i really watch religiously anymore. it seems that everything on TV these days is reality shows. i remember reading somewhere that sitcoms are dying, being phased out. that would suck. i need mindless entertainment.

8.2 miles today! that's a new record! it was a crazy day though, so i'm not surprised. i even jumped in to help be an expeditor at the restaurant! crazy, since i've never done anything like that EVER. but it further engrained in my brain that i don't want to ever work at a restaurant.

saturday was M & J's wedding. she's the 4th of our group of 5 from high school to be wed. so i'm the last one left... the weather couldn't have been more on our side. it was just gorgeous on treasure island! if anyone out there is looking for a wedding venue, and they are looking for city views, definitely check out casa de la vista on treasure island! it's a great spot! i've posted pics of the views to the right. --->

anyways, this was my first time as a bridesmaid, and it was a fun experience, mainly cuz of the company i was in. my friends from high school and i have all gone on to do very different things. L is in japan, teaching english, after receiving her masters in english comp hoping to teach english at a jr. college (who flew back from japan for the wedding!). Y moved to seattle to be closer to A, and they married (the 1st one of us) and moved to richland, wa and bought a house, starting a family soon. M is getting her PhD from UCSF, doing something in the bio field...never was quite sure what. J moved to LA to be with B, got her MPH from USC, and is now working to improve our public health system. me, well, i'm still trying to figure out what the heck i'm doing. :) but i'm happy, so i'm not worried. yet, even with our moving away and onward, we still managed to keep in touch after high school, mostly thru emails and occasional phone calls. and during the holidays, when everyone is visiting family, still in the same general area that we all grew up in, we get a chance to see each other, if even just for a quick breakfast. it's nice, to have ppl around like that. so this was a great weekend for us, the first time we were all together, part of one of OUR wedding days. but for me, it was also an interesting learning experience, being that this was the first wedding i've ever been apart of. and this was also the first time i've EVER seen a groomzilla. the bride was calm and radiant and laughing and having fun. the groom was stressing more than i've ever seen a guy stress, especially over a WEDDING! and trust me, i've worked with numerous brides and grooms, and this was truly a first! and don't even get me started on the demandingly-blunt-to-the-point-of-rudeness photographer...

so my weekend was filled with wedding prep, then wedding, then wedding recovery. hahaha... and now, back to work, for more wedding prep, wedding, and wedding recovery... =P
