ohmigosh, another high school friend also
just found out she's pregnant, and they're both due around the same
time! cah-razy.
so an old coworker of mine invited me to lunch.
she left RC and went to work at the 4 Seasons. and i don't blame
her...it's a really nice hotel and the guestrooms are soooo nice. i
guess i'm just so used to seeing my own hotel that it's nice to look at
different walls and carpet. we had a fabulous lunch at the seasons
restaurant, and now i'm suffering from food coma. :P we had appetizers,
entree and dessert. didn't finish anything but it was nice to endulge.
i think i need a nap.

homemade curtains on your car? that's one
way to block out the sun i guess...

you know that this "low carb" craze/cult
following is getting outta control when they start making low carb dog
food.

the first of my high school group of
friends is pregnant! that's so exciting...but seems so crazy to me! i
can't even begin to imagine what that's like, even though i'm not that
far from it myself. well, sort of. we don't plan to have children
anytime soon, cuz quite frankly, after our mortgage, property tax,
insurance, etc etc etc, we hardly have enough money to do anything even
somewhat exciting. hmph. plus, there is no way we're ready to have kids.
nonono...

worked 12 hours today, day 6 of my 7-day
work week. ugh, i think my director is trying to kill me. either that or
drive me to kill someone else. ;P
but the hotel is abuzz with
activity, and about 50 of the world's top french chefs and master chefs.
"incroyable!" the ballroom looked amazing! they stacked wine barrels all
along the ballroom to form a wall, 3 barrels high. there were white rice
paper balloon lights all over, candles EVERYWHERE (a major fire hazard
with all those wine barrels, but oh well!). even the base plates with
sticker menus on them were amazing. and to be amidst all those chefs,
masters of their craft... oh, and can't leave out the 8 course menu with
wines to pair. and the reason for all this? our very own executive chef
was being inducted as a maitres cuisiniers de france, or french master
chef, one of only 300 in the world. incroyable...
the only reason
i don't mind working 12 hours is the much needed overtime. it's nice to
be paid hourly. :)

my car is broken. okay, not really. she
just needs some work done. :) finally, after over 105k miles, her brakes
just don't want to brake like they used to. the awful
screeching/grinding noise is really getting on my nerves. and one of her
headlights is out. grrr... and she is way overdue for an oil change.
oops.

roommate's fiance has these "ideas."
they're more like inventions i guess, but we usually just ignore him. or
laugh at him. :) last night we were watching TV, and a commercial came
on for this,
an idea that g had. he wanted to invent a "finger toothbrush" that you
could slip on your finger to brush your teeth. don't ask why... anyways,
then roommate reminded me of g's "visor" invention. in high school, g
cut the top of his baseball cap off and invented the "half cap."
suddenly, visors started popping up, and g swore someone saw him and
stole his concept. hahaha, the half cap... too funny.
now, if i
could just invent something that will really bring in the money...

things i'll miss about living on the
peninsula: 1. i'm just a 10 minute drive to the city, 15 minutes
to union square/downtown 2. being 3 miles from the beach (a very cold
beach, but that's okay) 3. eggettes (where they have the best boba
drinks ever) 4. the "cool" climate
things i will not miss
about living on the peninsula: 1. the fog, and "june gloom" 2.
the world's worst drivers ever 3. all those thugs that just "loiter"
around 4. the loud rumble of exhaust pipes from all those rice
rockets
things i look forward to about living in the east
bay 1. sunshine in june (and not having to turn on the heater in
the middle of summer) 2. exploring another part of the bay area 3.
being closer to my parents (but not TOO close) 4. sunshine in june
(it's big enough to mention twice)
things i do not look
forward to about living in the east bay 1. the heat. i've become
quite accustomed to the cool temps of the upper peninsula 2. the
commute to my job, about an hour's drive across the san mateo
bridge...ugh 3. being so far away from eggettes 4. and being so
far away from my friends! :( *sigh*

i used to hate TV commercials, always
flipping the channel to the next remotely interesting channel not
showing a commercial. but there are some really funny ones out there
lately that i actually like catching. like the sprint PCS commercial
with the room full of kids drawing and painting, and the new girl joins
the class and the teacher gives her the huge deluxe painting set because
"she's new." "how does YOUR wireless company make you feel?" ahaha, so
true... or that honda commercial with the owners that look like their
cars...i like the one with the guy with big ears! ahahahah...funny. and
of course all those citibank identity theft commercials. soooo
funny.

saw madonna last night, for the 2nd time.
although the stage/set wasn't as extravagent as her drowned world tour,
i liked it just as much. she's a good live performer. some ppl just
can't sing live, let alone dance around the stage for 2 hours. but she
is one tough lady. half of her songs were old, very nostalgic. i think
my fave song she sang was "into the groove." even her costume change
performances rocked.
i think this time for reals, this is my
last concert. concert meaning large venue with tens of thousands of
other screaming fans. and anything more than $20. :) well, except that i
really want to see morrissey at lollapalooza... he needs his own show.
my first ever concert was lollapalooza 2, the summer after my freshman
year in high school (gosh, that seems soooo long ago). red hot chili
peppers, pearl jam, jesus and mary chain...what a great memory... i
remember lollapalooza 4 was even better...smashing pumpkins headlined
but i thought they sucked, and i just stopped listening to them all
together even though they were one of my favorite bands in high school.
funny how that happened. i remember i loved shonen knife, and i met them
and they signed my program. hahaha... in high school, i wasn't much into
rap/hiphop, and didn't appreciate tribe called quest or pharcyde being
there! i just remember there was way to much going on with two stages,
so we didn't get to see everyone we wanted to. now that i think about
it, i wouldn't mind going to that type of concert, like an
all-day-sit-on-the-lawn-with-good-friends-and-enjoy-great-music thing.
hmm...

tonight. dunno...it sounded interesting when i walked by it at the video
store. it had some interesting scenes. yeah...it was...interesting.
okay, i didn't get it really. it was weird.
