so today was our first open house for
roommate's condo. the whole entire place is immaculately spotless and
the cleanest i've ever seen it...well, since we first moved in almost 4
years ago. sheesh, i can't believe it's been 4 years already. it makes
me really sad though, the thought of not having her as my roommate
anymore.
my mom asked me the other day how we met, and i told
her the story of fall rush week back during my junior year at cal poly.
JC was a transfer student, and i approached her during info night and
introduced myself and pronounced her name wrong. hahaha, bad start i
guess. after she became a pledge, she came over to have lunch with GL,
one of my roommates at the time, also a sorority sister. i kinda just
joined them, cuz i was there and had nothing else planned. JC made us
the best potstickers i had ever had (the secret is the cornstarch!).
after JC left, GL and i were talking and i said "i don't think JC likes
me. i think she thinks i'm really immature." even though we're the same
age. so JC and i never really got to know each other. we just seemed so
different... then, our senior year, we discovered our mutual love of
karaoke. hehehe...
by our super senior year, we were spending
lots of time together, and realizing we had a lot more in common than
both of us had ever thought. just before graduation, i asked her if she
wanted to be roommates. she had just gotten a job at arthur anderson in
SF, and i was preparing for a job in SF as well, and i really wanted to
live in the city. so we agreed to be roommates. we searched and searched
and searched for affordable housing in a decent area of SF, and failed.
at that time, in fall of 2000, a 2 bedroom apartment was easily over
$2000. and we're not talking nob hill or the marina. we're talking the
outer edges of the tenderloin and deep in the sunset, in some stank
dwelling no one should call home. then, her parents came up with the
idea of helping her buy a condo, cuz back then, the mortgage on a 2
bedroom condo was waaaaaay cheaper than rent (inconceivable, i know!)!
so they found this place, and well, you probably don't care to read
about the rest, so i'll spare you. :)
and now, almost exactly 4
years later, we're both packing up our things (and we had a LOT of
"things" to pack, sheesh) and getting ready to enter the next phases of
our lives. i'll be getting married in october, with her as my maid of
honor, and she'll be getting married next april, with me as her maid of
honor. it's funny how things work out with your friends. who knew she'd
end up being one of the dearest friends i'll ever have?

strike two. *sigh* so
frustrating. our agent is so sweet, he told us not to get
discouraged, to keep our morale up. the right house will come
at the right time...

hmm...
so according to labor laws, it IS legal, what my employer is doing.
section 512 is also interesting to me, since i don't take breaks, ever.
why not? cuz i don't have time to eat! and just when i sit down, i get
called out on the floor again. hmph.
i'm over it. i mean, i'm
REALLY over it...

grr...i'm on another 7-day week at work!!
why do they keep doing this to me?! this is #3 in the past 2 months, and
i HATE it. the worst part is that i don't get overtime for those 2
days!! because our schedule is done weekly, they can get away with this,
apparently. even still, i HATE it. grrr...

i got my first bee sting yesterday. not
fun. in fact, i freaked out! i got into my car after work, and i pulled
my hair out from behind me, and something sharp poked me in the finger.
ouch! then a BEE flew out of my hand!! a BEE had gotten tangled in my
HAIR! luckily it flew toward the window so i rolled the window down to
let it out. then i panicked. i've never been stung before, so i had no
clue what would happen or what to do. my hand started to feel funny, and
my middle finger was kinda numb, and a painful, little, white bump
appeared where the bee had stung me. but i don't think it was a real
sting, cuz it didn't leave the little stinger. maybe just a little
prick. but still, it was quite frightening!! it didn't swell, and now
it's just a small pink dot on my finger. *sigh* i can't wait to cut my
hair...

W has a sony rewards card, where you get
points for purchases, and you can redeem them for sony goods. we use
them sometimes for movie tix at loews. the only loews i know of is in SF
at the metreon, so last night we used our *free* movie tix to see
spiderman2. though really cheezy at times, i really liked it, and can't
wait for 3! we already have a plot lined up for 4, if they need ideas.
;) after the flick we headed back to the parking garage and had to pay
$8!! sheesh, not such a great deal afterall. damn parking situation in
SF...
sometimes i drink half coke/half diet coke. i don't know,
it makes me feel less guilty about drinking soda, which i hardly ever
did til just a few months ago. so when they came out with coke's C2, i
was curious. it still contains aspartame (which i try to avoid as much
as possible) but it's still pretty tasty. way better than just diet
coke. i should really just stop drinking soda all together. bad bad bad.
more house hunting today (for THREE hours with our agent). why
is this so difficult? maybe cuz it's such a huge amount of money we're
talking about. it's not like an expensive jacket you can return if you
change your mind. *sigh*
am very very tired. may take a nap
before doing laundry. i think i was a cat in a past life, cuz there's
something very satisfying about taking naps. :)

there's something very liberating about
cleaning. and i don't mean vacuuming the room and scrubbing the toilet.
i'm talking cleaning out. throwing crap away. gathering old
clothes/shoes/toys/jewelry to give to goodwill. getting rid of things
you didn't even know you had. scary. it's hard to stop.

so now that i have 100mb of storage in my
yahoo email, there's really no need for me to clean out my folders. but
i was looking thru my "funnies" folder, and found this...
Note:
This was not done on purpose (by the pet owner) and the cat is fine and
back to normal. "My sister-in law is from Oklahoma and has a slight
accent. She has cats and when she lived in the south she would take them
to the groomers and have what is called a Line Cut. To her a line cut is
when all of the fur hanging down below the cat's tummy is taken off
(because it gets matted or snarled). When she moved to Chicago with my
brother, one of the cats fur got all tangled up during the move so she
took it in for a line cut. She was quite surprised when she heard the
price as it was twice as much as it was down south. She confirmed with
the groomer that he understood what a line cut was and he said "yes, I
know what a LION cut is." It seems her accent came out sounding like
LION not LINE and this is how her cat was returned to her. (see PHOTOS)
She cried for a week...but not as much as the cat. It was November in
Chicago and the cat needed all the fur it had." Gas in car to go to
groomers $4.50 Cat car carrier $32.99 Grooming fee $80.00
Getting the look from one seriously pissed off cat Priceless!
