i love being lazy on sundays.
:)
thanksgiving was delicious, and i felt like a stuffed turkey
after eating all that food! we hung out at W's dad's hoping to recover
some, but had to head out to lost hills before it got too late.
we were all geared up for a fun track day at buttonwillow and
needed precious sleep. unfortunately, a lot of ppl at the motel 6 didn't
seem to agree, making it difficult for us to get more than a nap between
the baby crying and the loud talkers in the middle of the night. they
obviously didn't have big plans the next day.
friday morning we
woke up and got ready, when D came knocking, only to bear bad news. it
had rained overnight!! W and i are beginning to think that we really
must have pissed off mother nature somehow, cuz boy does she love to
rain on our parade. a little rain wouldn't scare us away though. we
drove over to the track and just prayed for the drizzle to stop and the
sun to burn through.
overall, it was a pretty good track day,
despite the slick conditions (i'm sure the WRX STI didn't mind it a
bit). there were more drifters than grippers, but it's pretty fun to
watch the drifters (well, at least the ones who know what they're
doing). we had a couple of mishaps, including a car fire (youch, it was
pretty scary), a broken control arm and several flats, but luckily there
were no injuries.
so i didn't get to participate in the black
friday sales, but W did score on some pretty good deals at compUSA. so
now our big project is cleaning up our digital music library and ripping
our entire combined CD collections to better enhance our digital music
listening experience through our MP101 that
W found for the bargain price of $49.99!! fun stuff.

i can't believe it's thanksgiving
already!! woohoo!! we're going to W's dad's house for dinner, and i
can't wait! A is cooking up a 29 lb bird. woa, that's a lot of turkey. i
just love thanksgiving for all the great food, and the pumpkin pie!
yumm...
then, while we go into food coma, W and i are driving
down to buttonwillow for a fun-filled track day on friday. altho W's car
isn't at its best right now, i'm hoping we'll still have a good time.
there are a lot more ppl this trip, so we'll see how it goes.
well, hoping to get some christmas shopping done today, so have
a great thanksgiving!!

it's just not fair!! i want to be on the
show and get all of oprah's favorite things! this year, the list was
insane! burberry jackets and cashmere scarves, the maytag neptune dryer
i soooo want, flat screen TVs, sony vaio laptops, 990 thread count
sheets (holy crap, didn't even know that existed!), and the
list goes on and on. easily $10,000 worth of merchandise. but the
audience was full of deserving teachers, whom i'm sure could never
afford all this on their own. good for them.
someday...

more than anything in the whole entire
universe, i want to be on oprah's favorite things episode. *sigh* maybe
if i just keep requesting tickets, eventually in my lifetime it'll
happen. too bad it's so damn difficult to get tickets to her show. this
is when i wish i lived in chicago. or better yet, oprah needs to
relocate her show to the bay area. :)

hip hip hurray!
i got my new
driver's license, and FINALLY after 12 years, i have a new picture!! and
it's sooooo much better than my old picture. sooooo much. it actually
looks like ME. haha

it's been about a month since i quit my
job, and although i haven't been breaking my back looking for a new job,
i still find it much more difficult than i imagined. i mean, i know that
economy isn't at its best right now, and unemployment rates are still
pretty high, but i guess i had this false hope that finding a new job
would be as easy as pie. but then again, i remember that it took 3
months to find my last job, and i was really searching, treating it like
a full-time job. the thing is, i know i could get a job, if i just
wanted a JOB. but i feel like i should find something that has growth
potential in an industry i'm interested in. for example, the area i live
in is full of real estate and mortgage jobs, both of which i have zero
interest in. but the jobs are abundent and i definitely qualify for some
of them. so i just go for a job that i can get, or do i wait around for
the job of my dreams, like i did over 2 years ago? how long can i wait
though? i've also thought about just getting a seasonal retail job in
the meantime, to add to the financial cushion. but i don't know if i can
really do retail, i think i'd lose my mind... although a job at pottery
barn would be nice to help decorate our house.
and then there's
the whole idea of starting my own thing. but what? i know i'm creative,
and i'm good at being creative, but so are a lot of ppl. i need to set
myself apart from them, but how? i also have this issue with developing
product that is not easily mass-duplicated. hmph. what to do? any
ideas?

we got a ton of really great kitchen
gadgets and tools from our wedding registry, and it's been soooo fun
using all of them! our favorites are our belgian waffle
maker which makes big thick belgian waffles like the kinds at stacks. and
another favorite is our cuisinart
hand blender which makes it sooo easy to quickly chop or puree
ingredients for our new dual
ice cream maker!!! not to mention all the other great things we
got...i'm in kitchen heaven. hahaha...

of course he's guilty! didn't we
all know that already? but i don't wish the death penalty on him. i
don't agree with the death penalty. nope. i want the criminals to suffer
for the rest of their lives, being reminded of what they've done. why
should they get off so easy as to just die and not have to live with
what they did? pshh...no way. i hope he suffers for a very very long
time.
on a brighter note, we got a new TV today, and it's HUGE.
well, not really. it's actually only 36" but in our little living room,
i swear it's all you see now! this huge TV! but it's pretty cool, flat
screen HDTV. video games will never be the same...

well, it's official. i am now J Y-J L-P.
hahaha, it's a ridiculously long name with too many hyphens. but oh
well. i was at the social security office (which is rather depressing,
btw) and the lady made me sign my new name, and i had to pause cuz i
hadn't done that before, and i didn't know how it would look! and then i
had to do it again at the dmv, but this time, i practiced a little while
i was waiting. :) so yes, i decided to hyphenate. i'm sure the L will be
dropped further down the line eventually, but for now, i just don't
think i can completely let go...

finally got to try the "sips of
luxury"...starbucks still has the pumpkin spice latte! and it is so
delicious!! so, i will not be writing a letter to starbucks this
time.
yesterday i got my hair cut, and it feels so great! she
only cut of 4 inches, which is fine, i was willing to go up to 6. and
it's still pretty long. but still need to keep it sort of long for J's
wedding in april. just so i have options. :)
so i'm back on the
job hunt, and it's proven to be quite difficult. last time i was
unemployed, it was easy to find a job cuz i knew exactly what industry
and what position i wanted. now, i'm just kinda up in the air, looking
for anything that sounds interesting that i might be just a little bit
qualified for. so if anyone hears of any good opportunites out in my
direction, please don't be bashful!

word of advice, don't get the gingerbread
latte at starbucks. blech. tastes like tree bark. and i never did get a
chance to try the pumpkin spice latte, that everyone said was soooo good
but starbucks never seemed to have, despite the big sign on the wall
saying "try our new pumpkin spice latte, luxury in every sip."
psh...whatever.

our house is a mess, like a tornado ran
thru it. there are boxes and pillow packs and styrofoam peanuts
everywhere. and our office is even worse, with papers covering our desk
(which is quite large). i really need to clean, but it's so hard when
you have all these distractions!
last
night was a fun halloween for us. actually, more so for me than W. my
last place was a secured condo building, with only a handful of kids in
the entire complex. and he lived in an in-law with his entrance thru the
garage of the homeowners. so for the past 4 years, we never had any
trick-or-treaters. and in college i was usually at a halloween party or
something, so no passing out candy. this year was the first time i got
to pass out candy since i was at home with my parents! that's 10 years!!
we got a good number of kids, and they were so adorable! and we had good
candy. it's a good thing we only got what we liked cuz we have a big
bowl of it left! yummm...
i found out from my former counterpart
at the hotel that they "removed" the director of catering! finally!! i'm
sure there was a lot of celebrating in the halls when they kicked him
out! i wish i could've been there to see it. *chuckles*
