i'm procrastinating, can you
tell??
things i will miss about living in california/bay
area 1. the weather, so mild, never unpredictable (well,
shouldn't say never, but you don't get too many freak storms or
hurricanes at least!) 2. living so close to the beach, the mountains,
the valley, the desert...all in short driving distance 3. san
francisco 4. our family and friends
things i will not miss
about living in california/bay area 1. the constant threat of
earthquakes...you never know when the "big one" will hit! 2. the
attitudes, so sick of the attitudes 3. traffic on every
highway/freeway/expressway, even at odd hours of the day 4. not
having real seasons
things i look forward to about living in
colorado 1. snow!!! 2. the abundance of outdoorsy things to
do: snowboarding/snowmobiling (an hour away!), hiking, kayaking, dirt
biking, etc etc etc 3. exploring a whole new city and state, and all
that it has to offer (a lot from what we hear) 4. our new
house!
things i don't look forward to about living in
colorado 1. being so far from family and friends. (x4) :(

one of W's friends got us a gift cert for
a couple's massage, and we finally used it on friday. i think i'll need
another one after we get to denver...
friday night we went to SF
for the last time! haha, okay, not the last time ever, but it will be a
while before we go back i'm sure. we had dinner with some friends (and
their 3 adorable and entertaining kids) at circolo which was really good. i
highly suggest their mango mojito! the food was delicious too. our
friends own Bob's Donuts on Polk & Clay. and of course we got sick
on donuts after dinner! but it's hard to resist a hot fresh donut,
straight out of the vat of shortening, dripping with chocolate
glaze...haha. i tried to absorb all that i could see...cuz i might not
get to see it for a while! i love SF, there is definitely no place like
it on earth.
saturday we woke up bright and early (a little too
early if you ask me) for our garage sale! we posted an ad on craig's
list, put up a few signs, and did pretty darn well! i thought for sure
no one would be there, but we sold almost everything and made $250!
woohoo, food money for the trip! :) hung out with friend S and had
burritos from fiesta taco (our fave tacqueria here in town). after all
was said and done, W & i took a 2 hour nap, waking up just in time
for my last home-cooked meal in this house. i've packed up all our
cooking supplies, dishes, cups, basically everything in the kitchen. we
continued packing til midnight.
today, i'm having lunch with some
of my sorority sisters. i wish i could see more girls before i leave,
but it's just too difficult to see everyone. of course everyone is busy
doing their own thing, but i'll be glad to say goodbye to those that can
make it to lunch. W is planning to replace my clutch today, so everyone
cross your fingers and pray everything goes smoothly! and of course
there will be more packing tonight.
i had a moving dream last
night...even in my dreams we have a ton of stuff!
it's really
starting to sink in now. i think it's just the sight of our house right
now, it's just chaotic. why does it always seem to get so much worse
before it gets even a little bit better? 5 days left til we leave...

so i had a first last night. W's friend
invited us to this bar nearby for drinks and karaoke! now, it's no
secret i looooooove to karaoke (uh, we have a karaoke dvd maching at
home, hehe). but my friends and i go to no-rae-bahng, which is
karaokeing in an enclosed room with only a handful of other ppl that you
know very well and you sing your hearts out! i've never actually done
the whole karaoke bar thing. until last night. i wasn't sure i could do
it, i've never gotten up in front of a crowd of strangers and just sang
before. and everyone was really good, they're regulars that sometimes
compete in karaoke competitions there on thursday nights. so you can
imagine how intimadated i was feeling. well, i found one of my "usual"
songs in the book and decided to just go for it. afterall, i'd never see
these ppl again, right? ;) i have to admit tho, i was a bit nervous
waiting for the DJ to call my name. but when it was my turn, i just got
up and sang blondie's "maria" and had a blast! since the speakers were
in front of me, i couldn't even hear myself at first, and wasn't even
sure if i was on key! but i think i did alright. it's too bad i'm only
now finding out about this karaoke night, but i'm glad i did it. i think
maybe i'll try to find a karaoke bar in denver. hehe, or just continue
singing my brains out at home. :)

i was watching "the view" this morning,
and they were talking about teenagers having plastic surgery. i was
shocked to see 14-year-olds getting gastric bypass surgery! this girl
was talking about how she's tried every diet, and she exercised 3 times
a week... uh hello, it's gonna take more than just that. another kid was
talking about how his friends always have candy around and eat a lot of
fast food, and so it's hard for him to lose weight. so that's why he
needs the surgery to help him lose weight. that's just
ridiculous. after he gets the surgery, his same friends will have the
same candy and junk food, so what's gonna stop him? i'm just shocked
that doctors are willing to do this to children! ppl, if you have
fat kids it's because you're letting them eat unhealthy foods and not
encouraging them to be active. it's even scarier that they have gyms for
children. kids do not need gyms, they just need to be kids and run
around and play outside! sheesh!

well, i have to say my 10 year high
school reunion went just about as i expected it to. there were mostly
ppl i didn't really know in high school, so it's not like i was catching
up with anyone. i was amazed at how some people literally hadn't changed
at all since high school; they looked and acted exactly the same! which
i thought was really sad... and i must say, my group of friends and i
have definitely aged well...hahaha. never the less, it was nice to chat
with those that i had known since elementary school, even tho i knew i'd
probably never see or hear from them again. the best part was just being
able to hang out with my friends and our husbands, one last time before
we move.
12 days til we leave...and now, the real packing
begins.

we are now 2 weeks from moving day, and
my new mantra is: "bend your knees, lift with your legs." i already have
a weak back (high school swimming really jacked up my body), and the
smallest bit of strain messes me up pretty good. we are starting to
really pack now, and i'm close to halfway done with the kitchen. i
really really hope all our stuff fits in the truck, cuz it will really
suck if it doesn't!!!
:(

i am feeling extremely overwhelmed. we
started the loooong and painful process of packing today. actually, we
started with cleaning out and throwing away first, and this was just the
garage. how we acummulated so much is beyond me. i admit i can be a bit
of a packrat, but these days, very few things hold any sentimental
value! just throw it away--that's my new mantra. at first two and a half
weeks sounded like a lot of time to pack. but now, i don't know if it's
enough.
did i mention we'll be spending close to $1000 on gas
just for this move? *sigh*

very cool thing my dad actually showed
us! check it out! the more money
you pay, the more detailed the maps get, but the free version is plenty
cool. have fun!

well...we had doubts we'd be able to find
"the one" with only 2 trips out there, but we did it! after looking at
over 30 houses, we found "the one!" so in 4 weeks, we'll be packing up
and moving to denver! well, technically, lone tree.
i still
can't believe it. we just bought a house. in colorado.
holy shit.
