okay, so i wasn't sure i wanted to put
this link on my blog. but i know that my loyal readers are not ones to
believe everything they hear/read/see, and hope you do what i did, and
just think about all that the movie brings to the table. it's like a
michael moore movie or book, where you have to just kinda take it and
think about the things he says, but don't just jump up and instantly
believe every word. it's very one-sided and if you listen closely
enough, the narrator has a good way of "twisting" things to make what's
not fact sound like it is fact. but still, if anything this film says is
true, it really makes you look at the events of 9/11 and everything that
followed in a completely different way. after i saw "farenheit 9/11" i
was steaming mad at bush, and i'm sure that's exactly what michael moore
wanted everyone to feel. after seeing this, my feelings were just "what
the..." so grab a friend, a spouse, a neighbor, whatever, sit back (it's
an hour and 20 minutes long, probably not recommended if you don't have
hi-speed internet) and watch it. and discuss it. like W and i did for
over an hour after we saw it. i still can't stop thinking about
it...

i got an award today at work! yea me! :)
our boss's boss has an award ceremony every month for all her teams (she
oversees 5 teams), and some of them are kinda like gag awards, but some
are serious, and you get nominated by other teammates to receive them.
and i got the "team player" award for helping out our funder. i was
shocked to get anything since i've only been there a month.
today was also "bring your kid to work day" so we had a bunch of
kids running around all afternoon. there were a lot of kids. it's weird
how so many of my coworkers have kids. JM is 26 and has an 8 year old
and a 3 year old. EI is my age, divorced with an 8 year old. JC is only
3 years older than me, has a 14 year old, 10 year old and a 2 year old.
FB is a year older than me and has an 8 year old. what in the world?
JM's sister had her baby when she was a junior in high school!! hullo?!
and their mom is young too, like 42. her grandmother is only a few years
older than my mom! i can't even imagine having a kid when you're still
in high school.

a few years back, i discovered skinny cow low fat ice cream sandwiches. now, before
you think "ew...gross, low fat ice cream?!" i have to tell you, they are
so good, you'd never know they were low fat. it almost feels like that
seinfeld episode where the gang discovers that really delicious "low fat
frozen yogurt" place, that turns out not to be low fat at all! (haha,
seriously, i'm waiting for breaking news that skinny cow is a scam and
all their ice cream is super fattening and bad for you!) well, i was
even more delighted to see their new ice cream cones!! they're like drumsticks, but not as
bad for you! and the cone is crunchy, with chocolate, omg, soooo good.
you really need to go try them. i don't know about your neighborhoods,
but the safeway here has them on sale right now. i'm stocking up. you
should too.

spring has sprung...
since about
november, things have been pretty brown here. something we're not used
to, since norcal winters turn things green with all that moisture. and
now things are warming up, we can turn our sprinklers on again (you have
to drain them in the winter when the temps drop below freezing cuz your
pipes can crack if there's water in 'em), and everything's turning green
again! yea!
we have daffodils!
.jpg)
our trees are blooming!

after having easter brunch at the lone tree country
club, we sat on our porch and watched the neighbors...haha...

seriously, i don't know why i didn't
think to get a library card earlier. i picked up 3 more knitting books
today (as i returned the previous 4). i might try to request some vogue
knitting and interweave magazines next. they're not at my library, but
if i request them from another library, they'll send them over to my
library and put them on hold for me! so great!!

omg, it's too hot...i'm dying... i think
today's high was around 84. sheesh, it feels like we fast forwarded thru
spring and now it's summer! altho, it gets much warmer than this in the
summer. and my craft room/office is on the 3rd floor (cuz the basement
is a walk out and counts as the bottom floor), so it's especially hot.
my computer fan is working extra hard and is letting me know it! ugh. i
do not do well in this kind of heat. i need a nap. and a cold, tall
glass of lemonade.

this last visit back to the bay area i
realized that i don't think i'll ever be able to move back there. it's
just too congested, way too many ppl, too many cars, it takes too long
to get from point A to point B. and the ppl are so rude! and
self-absorbed...it's just ridiculous! but none the less, it was great to
see my friends and parents and spend some time together. i think the
longer we stay out in denver, the harder and harder it will be to ever
imagine going back to california...i can't believe i just said that! but
sadly, it's true! i can't say we'll stay here forever, but i can pretty
much say we'll venture somewhere else before we venture back to the bay
area.
while we were there, my parents were telling us about the
record-breaking rain they've been having, and how the last time it
rained this much was before the 1906 san francisco earthquake. so of
course everyone is speculating that this could be a "sign" that the next
"big one" is coming. far fetched? maybe. scary? definitely. we watched
this documentary about the fault lines in california, and how the
creeping faults have offset sidewalks, home foundations, streets...it's
crazy!! and of course they talked about how the west side of the san
andreas, the pacific plate, will eventually break off and sink into the
ocean. greeeeaaat. the most interesting thing was that the san andreas
fault ran right next to our place in SSF!! crazy! do they not disclose
these things when you buy a house? because many residents didn't even
know they lived on or next to a fault line. scary. that's another thing
i don't miss...the threat of "the big one." here we might get a funnel
cloud, but you can actually see those coming and hide down in your
basement. :)
well here's a picture of the baby blanket i made for
L's baby (i didn't post it earlier cuz L reads this and i didn't want to
ruin the surprise...) :)

this morning i got an email from my old
director from RCHMB (we still keep in touch), asking if i was interested
in joining the pre-opening team for the ritz-carlton, denver, scheduled to open next
spring. man, talk about bad timing. or not? i had to really think about
it, and talk it over with W. i mean, it would be easy to join RCD,
afterall, i'm familiar with the company, the policies, the job (i would
join the sales team to book business before the hotel opens, making sure
those rooms are filled!). but i had to remind myself why i left the
hotel biz to begin with. the long hours, the low pay...the room discount
was nice, but when did i ever get a day off to use it? and plus, i
really like where i'm at right now and i'm learning a lot, preparing
myself to make the big bucks. cuz frankly, at this point in my life, it
is about the money! but it's also about a career path. i mean,
i'm almost 30 (holy cow) and i feel like i'm still figuring out what i
want to be when i grow up! hello, shouldn't i know this by now? why
haven't i figured it out? am i wasting too much time romanticizing about
certain "dream" jobs? well, i feel like i have it pretty good right now,
and i really want to give this mortgage stuff a chance before i just put
it aside (again). working at RCD isn't totally out of the question, but
not right now. maybe later. maybe...

i am happy because... 1. it is 74
degrees outside today, and just lovely (aside from a few lingering
clouds)! 2. daylight savings means the sun goes down at like 8pm!
(okay, i'm exaggerating) 3. things are going well at work, i'm on my
own now and i don't ask a million questions setting up each loan! yay
for me! 4. i'll be seeing my high school friends for L's baby shower
this weekend, yay! hopefully the rain stops...yuck. there's one thing i
don't miss about norcal.
