my coworker that gave me the rhubarb that i used to make the rhubarb muffins gave me a huge zucchini. i think it weighed 1.5 lbs. i used part of it to make zucchini bread (would share the recipe, but it was in a cookbook, "best light recipe"). yes, the thing is 15" long. kinda grosses me out.
then she gave me a cucumber, and i made a japanese cucumber salad...yum!!! this was no ordinary cucumber tho. i wonder what her garden looks like. here's a picture of one of the 3 cucumbers she gave me, next to a beer bottle to give you an idea of how huge it was. again, kinda grosses me out.![]()

premier week is upon us (and it's officially fall, woohoo!), and since others are blogging/talking about the new line up, and the return of their fave shows, well, so will i.
here's what i'll be watching religiously:
1. lost
2. heroes
3. desperate housewives
4. grey's anatomy
5. the office
6. how i met your mother
7. ANTM
8. and of course amazing race when that starts up again
new shows i'll be checking out:
1. kid nation (they're so cute!! but my fave kid went home already!)
2. pushing daisies
3. private practice
show i'll try to catch if they don't conflict with above:
1. ugly betty (caught up on reruns this summer)
game shows i'll watch if there's nothing else on:
1. power of 10
2. 1 vs. 100
3. don't forget the lyrics
i gotta tell you tho, i'm really upset that CBS didn't bring back "the new adventures of old christine" cuz i really liked that show. instead they kept "rules of engagement" which was totally lame. whatever. less tv to watch. :)

okay, remember the duggar's? the arkansas couple that just had their 17th baby? well, check out their house!! i can't believe a household with that many children is so spotless and organized! that's just insane. well, i guess if you have 17 kids to clean the house, it's not so shocking. :)

there's a ford dealer near my work that advertises a free ford focus with the purchase of any car. now that's a smokin' deal. apparently there are other ford dealers that do that too. what's the catch?

well, i've survived another round of layoffs...eesh. we all knew it was coming, but luckily my department was the only one not affected at all. even in this turbulant climate for the mortgage industry, direct lending is the place to be. we're not as busy as we should be, but we're still at about 130% capacity, hoping to be 170% by next year. it gives me a little hope i guess, but it's hard to have confidence in this sort of environment.

i love long weekends!
saturday morning i went for a hike up the bluffs with C and baby I, and we even took their crazy golden retriever with us. he did surprisingly well, and after the 3+ mile hike, he was pooped! afterwards, i did a little shopping to get some linens for our new formal dining table...yes, after almost 2 years we FINALLY got dining furniture!
then we got ready for the b.b. king concert with al green and etta james. first of all, red rocks amphitheater is the coolest concert venue ever. there is nothing like listening to some awesome live music under the stars, set inside this natural wonder. not to mention the views of downtown denver and the surrounding metro areas. incredible! the concert was amazing!!! etta james is quite the freaky little performer...lol! al green was incredible, and very much a lady's man! and b.b. king was by far one of my favorite live acts. he's quite the entertainer and story-teller, and with his energy level, it's hard to believe he'll be 82 in about 2 weeks! i would highly recommend seeing him perform live if you can...just amazing. sit in the front row cuz he throws out jewelry at the end of the show!
during the time al green was performing, just above the horizon there was this huge red glow rising in the night sky...it was the moon! we couldn't get a good picture, but it was the most incredible sight!! here's what we could capture with my camera, not the greatest, but absolutely spectacular in person. it went quickly from deep red to bright orange, and then to a golden yellow.
sunday we did some shopping (trying to organize our basement) and went to a taste of colorado, but it wasn't as good as last year. there didn't seem to be as many food stalls. it was still delicious tho!
and today, i plan to do very little...haha. probably just clean a little and read. hope everyone had a great long weekend!
